Pilates is one of the most versatile forms of exercise catering to each individual and their unique needs. I work with many populations and their goals, whether it be rehabilitation from an injury, preparing or returning from giving birth, training for a competition and or simply wanting to achieve a higher state of health and fitness. Joseph Pilates (1883-1967) developed a prolific exercise system that addresses the “whole body” and recognized the negative effects of a modern inactive civilization. The Pilates repertoire simultaneously builds strength and flexibility with a strong attention to the deep core muscles. I believe exercise is a progressive endeavor and should therefore be adapted to current exercise science and knowledge. I love getting creative with props and integrating functional movement exercises into my teaching.
“ Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness. Our interpretation of physical fitness is the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly developed body with a sound mind fully capable of naturally, easily, and satisfactorily performing our many and varied daily tasks with spontaneous zest and pleasure.”
